Indianapolis area property tax rates, 2026

Rates for the 20 cities, towns and townships with at least 10,000 residents in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson and Marion counties. A place here can have several rates, because school and tax district lines don't follow city limits; each is shown by its main rate, with the range.

The 77 smaller places are on their county pages: Boone County, Hamilton County, Hancock County, Hendricks County, Johnson County, Marion County. The main rate is the rate in the school district that shares the place's name, or where there isn't one, the middle one of its published rates (the lower of the two middle ones when there's an even number).

Reading these rates

Each Indiana place spans one or more tax districts, and the state certifies one combined rate for each district, covering the county, township, city or town, school corporation, library and others. Your bill can be lower than rate × value because of Indiana's caps: 1% of gross assessed value for a homestead, 2% for other residential property and farmland, 3% for everything else.
